If I had any superpowers

If I had any superpowers, I would want to fly through the air so I could save anybody in danger, like a cat stuck in a tree.

I would soar up to the top of a tornado and take control of it. It would do anything I want it to do, like if I pointed in any direction, it would go that way. I then would never have tired legs and feet. That's what I would want.

The best invention in the world

The best invention ever is the lightning rod, because it was made by Benjamin Franklin. He did an experiment to see if lightning was electricity.

He flew a kite during a thunderstorm, with a metal key attached to the end of the string. When it rained and the string got wet, sure enough, a spark jumped from the key when the lightning flashed. And that led to the lightning rod. And that's why I like it.

If I could take any zoo animal

If I could take any zoo animal, I would take them all and bring them back home where they belong, and live in the wild, the wide-open spaces.

I would take the white polar bears and the penguins back to Antarctica, the mighty gray elephants and the black-and-white striped zebras back to Africa, the brown grizzly bears back to the forest, the funky monkeys and lemurs back to the jungle, along with the wild cats and birds, and all the fish, sharks, dolphins, and whales back to the ocean. They would be very happy, and that would be grrrrrrreat! Good-bye for now.

If I had $1,000,000

If I had $,100,000, I would move to Minnesota and stay there. I would also buy some expensive stuff.

Or I could save up enough to get $1,000,000! Then I would buy very, VERY expensive stuff. I'd also live in a big mansion with butlers and servants. I would tip them, too. I'd also buy some very scary Halloween decorations, and even a thunder and lightning simulator! See you later.

My Favorite Storm

My favorite storm is a thunderstorm, because it's the only storm with heavy rain, thunder, lightning, large hail, strong winds, and tornadoes if severe.

The cloud that produces it is called a cumulonimbus (kyoo MEW loh NIHM buss) cloud. Their flat tops are called the anvil, because it looks like a blacksmith's anvil for making things out of steel, like horeshoes. My next favorite storm is a tornado, because it's the only violent whirling wind that's funnel-shaped. It's a windstorm that travels over land as a funnel-shaped cloud. You'll know a severe thunderstorm is approaching if the clouds look green. See you next time.

My favorite movie character

Mater
My favorite movie character is from the Disney Pixar movie, Cars. He's brown, likes riding in helicopters, and is McQueen's friend. It's Mater. Like "tuhmater", but without the "tuh". He is hilarious.

He likes tractor tippin', and is the best backwards driver. He lives in Radiator Springs, and thinks the Ghostlight is real. Mater, if riding a helicopter, is "happier than a tornado in a trailer park". He is a big feller to McQueen, and also has sort of a Texas drawl. See you in Radiator Springs, "Tuhmater"! I'll be seeing you later, Mater! Hahahahahahaha! See ya later.

Hello, world.

My name is Shelby Thibodeau. My favorite science is Earth science and weather. I love thunder and lightning, and I want to be a meteorologist when I grow up. I love watching thunderstorms rumble across my home. I would like to see a tornado, and I know all the cloud types and what weather they bring. I would like working at the National Weather Service in Hastings. Climate is great, too, so I'd also want to be a climatologist. Ask me a weather question, and I'll give you all the answers and info you need.

I like Halloween, because it makes me think of haunted houses on dark and stormy nights. I have lots of good friends and teachers. I love libraries, because they have the books I like. I think Christmas is the merriest holiday. When I grow up, be sure to visit me at the NWS in Hastings.
